Diesel Engine Case Study

Overhaul of Paxman 16RPH main engine and 3 off 6RPH generators

Challenge:

Complete overhaul of main engines, including fuel pumps and turbochargers. Complete overhaul of all three Paxman* 6RPH Diesel generators and ancillary equipment within 21 working days.

How we helped:

  • Completely dismantled all generator governors, chemically cleaned, measured, rebuilt and tested them.
  • The main engine crankshaft required regrinding, so we carried this out – including Lloyds inspection.
  • Fitted new liners.
  • Supplied and fitted reconditioned pistons.
  • Replaced 700 type governor on main engine with 1100 type to allow facility for shutdown and alarm.
  • Rebuilt and installed engines on vessel.
  • Sea trials were then completed with Bartech Engineers present.

Result:

Project completed within time-frame allowing vessel to return to service for surveying projects
