| We're proud to be featured in Shipping and Marine Magazine "Raising the bar"
‘Safety through mechanical excellence’ – this motto guides Bartech Marine, encapsulating the combination of technical innovation, engineering finesse and dedication to safety that has seen the company grow from a garage space at the end of the 1980s to the large, multi-functional workshop it resides in today. |
| At the end of 2010, Bartech Marine installed new Sage 200 business management software to help us co-ordinate every aspect of the business. On 5 January 2011, the company updated its twitter feed to announce the project’s success.
Managing Director Gerald Barnett says: “The system was installed successfully, the transition was very smooth and all staff have been trained. Building on a very successful 2010, we’re now looking forward to a brilliant 2011.”
The new software is designed to help staff across the business share information, and work more closely across departments. Gerald says: “It gives managers a good, clear overview of what’s going on. Best of all, Sage is a UK company – based in Newcastle – so we’re contributing to this country’s economy at a challenging time.”

| As we begin 2011 we have been planning the year ahead and looking at the great opportunities to provide more support for our clients.
There are some big plans to move the company forward including a premises in Aberdeen, relocation of our current workshop, new equipment, increasing team members, and training along with the continuous improvements and developments we are completing on a regular basis. |
| Rapid expansion in 2010, and throughout the last five years, means Bartech Marine is looking for a new 25,000ft2 property in the Colchester area – and recruiting three new members of staff.
Gerald Barnett, Managing Director, explains: “We’ve had a very successful few years, bucking the recessionary trend by providing quality work. We take a longer term, more sustainable approach than many companies in our industry, and focus on giving the best possible value. We try to upgrade and modify vessels to prolong their working lives, where some of our competitors would turn work down and see vessels sent for scrap.”
In the last few years, Bartech has already invested in a purpose-built head office, which includes a fully equipped workshop, dedicated governor bay, test facilities and state-of-the-art machine shop. As a result of its success, it is now looking for a second site, and looking to employ a Quality Controller, a Workshop / Service Engineer and a Receptionist.
